CQC acknowledges errors in implementation of new regulatory strategy

The acting chief executive of the Care Quality Commission has confessed that the organization made mistakes during the rollout of its updated regulatory model. In a letter addressed to providers on 15 July, Kate Terroni expressed her apologies and acknowledged the issues. “I am fully aware that the changes we have implemented so far do not match up to what we initially promised,” she stated. “This has made the entire process more complicated than it should have been. We are not at the point we had hoped to be, but we're committed to making the necessary improvements.”

The CQC has outlined a series of urgent steps to be taken in the near term, including increasing the number of assessments and inspections, offering more robust support for service providers, and enhancing the functionality of the provider portal.
